Slalom Course September 14, 2010

Yesterday KS helped their Bee-Bots move through the Slalom Buzzing Course (from www.earlyphaseicts.com). We didn’t point score; this would be more suited to older grades. I used the grid plastic mats to help them navigate the path instead of weaving around the flags and I kept it to just 3 flags and the finish line flag. Their understanding of direction has improved and telling or pointing  before they test the program has led to more success. Some children who had difficulty started by programming half the course only, while several others completed the course quickly without having to clear the previous steps, then restarted the course and completed it in one go.

This sounds a very exciting activity for Bee-Bots and children.
